If you’re one of those people who watches beauty influencers apply masks and beauty treatments every other day and thinks “who has the time?”, then this article could be for you.
Yes, it’s true, there are beauty routines that consist of 7 or 8 steps, which can take up to 1 hour and let’s face it, we don’t always have that much time to dedicate to ourselves.
But that is not a good reason to neglect your skin, because sooner or later it could make you pay. Fortunately, however, our skin is not that hard to satisfy, but there are two fundamental things that we should never let it lack, two quick steps, to be repeated both in the morning and in the evening.
So what are these 2 essential steps that make up our micro skin-care routine?
Number 1: Washing your face with a cleanser.
Yes, water is not enough, but it is very important to use a good quality cleanser to cleanse your face, one that respects the hydrolipidic film of your skin (i.e. one that doesn’t degrease it too much), and since we are talking about practical treatments, one that is quick and easy to apply, like a soft mousse.
Now some of you may be thinking that you can use any soap or your own shower gel to clean your face, but no please don’t, let’s keep this option for extreme situations, like when you go on holiday and when you arrive at your destination you realise you haven’t packed your facial cleanser.
Skin is not the same all over our bodies and therefore cannot be cleansed in the same way with one product on a regular basis. It is important to select a cleanser that is specially formulated for facial skin, effective but also gentle.
Girls, this step should never be skipped! The skin comes into contact with a lot of things during the day: dust, smog, sweat, make-up, it all gets trapped in the sebum along with dead skin cells. A real mess that needs to be thoroughly washed away every day.
Number 2: Always put on a moisturizer!
Whether you have dry skin, oily skin or a nice mix of the two, moisturizer should always be applied after washing your face with a cleanser.
Obviously, to each their own!
If you have dry skin, use a rich moisturizer, if you have oily skin, use a very light moisturizer, etc., etc…
But why moisturizer and not serum? To use a metaphor, we could compare our moisturizer to a dress and the serum to a good bra, which helps to hold up the whole structure 😉
You can leave the house without a bra, but without a dress, maybe not!
If you have the time to add a little serum under your moisturizer, it doesn’t hurt, but if we’re talking about the bare minimum, cleanser and moisturizer are the real must-haves.
But then what is everything else for?
Toners, serums, oils, exfoliants and masks all have a reason and if you have the time and desire to use them you will notice the difference, but if not, now you know what you absolutely cannot do without!
